the perfect teddy bear, and he loved the feel of his...he hesitated trying to come up with the
word. Lover, he decided. Gabe was definitely his lover.
The nightmares trod softly and Sean awoke without screaming, feeling the decadent
lateness of six a.m. on a Monday morning
After pancakes, he wrote as Gabe worked for a while. After a peanut butter lunch, he set
up the pack. "To the park then?"
Gabe logged out of the phone psychic line. "Yeah." He reached up for Sean to put him in
the pack.
Sean settled him into the pack. He fastened the waist belt in front of him before turning
and putting his arms through the straps so the pack rode on the front.
"Hmm, more awkward. I can't reach anything." Sean gripped the canvas. "Except your
ass."
Gabe wrapped his arms around him. "Still comfy here. Looks like it might be the back for
shopping though. Anything beats getting stuck. I never got to go into the back aisles and
there's stuff I want back there."
"Well now we can get anything. Just, uh, not today." Sean shifted the pack and finally got
it settled comfortably. He kissed Gabe. "Mmmm, liking this.
"Not killing your back?" Gabe looked very concerned.
"Nope, you're down on my hips. Let's go to the park."

Sean saw a lot more people staring at them as they walked this way. The fact that Gabe
hugged his neck the whole time and stole kisses probably added to their visibility.
As they passed Kim's, Gabe whispered, "I need more chocolate."
"Already?" Nick looked at him in stern puzzlement. "Man, is there a run on Hershey's or
what?"
"It's my aphrodisiac of choice." Gabe nibbled his ear as the hot-dog vendor stared.
"Now that I can get behind. Even if you don't need any help."
"Ever see the movie Chocolat?" Sean shook his head and Gabe pecked his nose. "We
should watch it together. Lady opens a chocolate shop and the whole town goes horny."
"You know, my writing has gone to hell since I spend all my time at your place," Sean
teased. "I'm lucky to do ten pages a day."
Gabe nuzzled in closer. "I need to give you more inspiration?"
Sean kissed him. "No, just more writing time. The inspiration is great, but I end up having
to write things twice and that's not efficient."
Gabe took the kiss deep as they waited for a light. "I think we can work a schedule out,"
he promised as they crossed the street to the park. "No more flirting, or naps, while I'm on the
phone. Fun as that may be."
"Yep, gotta knuckle down. Casey's on my neck because I still haven't finished the second
round of centaur and minotaur edits. We must achieve the sacred task of keeping us fed."
Sean sat down on the first bench. He wrapped his arms around Gabe and Gabe rested his head
on Sean's shoulder.
"That's a cause I can rally for. Since I do love to eat. So pure travel and no shopping? Are
you all right?"
"A little tired. You are heavy." Sean rubbed his back through the canvas.
"You know, we can get downright dirty in public this way."
Sean looked thoughtful and shifted things around. "Hmm, sling you a little lower, and
you get your hand inside. Maybe get a slit cut in there for my cock..." He trailed off as Gabe
slipped a hand into the pack and grabbed him through all the layers. "Mmm, wish."
"We'll get it worked out. You're brilliant."
Sean kissed him for that and they sat on the bench, watching the birds and the leaves.
Sean was fine at first and then started getting twitchy. He scanned the tree-line, and saw Gabe
catch him at it. "Time to go home. The pack is a big help, but--"
"I know. Rome wasn't built in a day." Gabe held on as Sean levered himself off the bench
and headed for home. On the way, he whispered about long walks in the park, sweet trips
through art galleries and all the other things they would do when Sean was up to it.
"Love you," Sean whispered as they got to the apartment. "That was a very nice walk."
"Total agreement."

Sean set about extricating them from the pack. "Of course, you know this little hike
means I won't be good for anything tonight." He stretched and his back creaked alarmingly.
"You have a fertility god on your side. Me, I'm pushing thirty and my borg knees are talking."
Gabe squirmed out of the pack. He got comfortable on the least lumpy part of Sean's sofa.
"Nothing? Still be good for cuddling. And dinner. Can we have mac 'n cheese?"
"Well, yeah that. Mac 'n cheese. Broccoli? Ham? Anything added?"
"Sure. Gotta get our veggies somewhere. How about chicken?"
"That works." Sean set about gathering up the stuff he'd need for the evening. "And I'll
come back here after the clinic tomorrow. I really have to work." He checked the supplies.
"Want an early dinner here?"
Gabe frowned. "All right."
Sean threw together a pretty decent casserole and he checked his e-mail while it baked.
Gabe went over his DVD collection.
"Where's your TV?"
"I don't have one. I just watch movies on the computer."
"Scrapes for his meals and has a cable modem and high-speed," Gabe sighed.
"All a matter of priorities, Gabe." Sean patted the computer. "It's my equivalent of a
power-suit and silk tie. It puts the roof over my head and food on the table." He stood up.
"Speaking of."
He got the casserole out of the oven. Gabe hand-walked over to climb into the kitchen
chair. Sean got them served and sat beside him. After a blessing, Gabe ate.
"Such a good cook. Ate mostly right out of cans before you. The hotplate didn't always
work."
Sean shrugged. "Mom made us all learn. I like cooking. So, see, I am good for something."
He gave Gabe a grin.
After he washed up, they loaded Gabe back into the pack. This time Sean wore it in back
